Silent witness series#
Well, the big talking point before the series aired was the return of Amanda Burton and of course Nikki and Jack! That's the real heart of the character – without that, it could be rather dry and procedural." What's the plot?Īre Nikki and Jack going to become a proper couple? (Image credit: BBC) The family stuff has been fantastic to play. "It's tricky to talk about without spoiling it, but needless to say, family secrets come out of the closet. We explore the story of Jack's niece in Belfast. Jack's brother is a loose cannon and he's gone AWOL again. He said: "There is a great episode set in Belfast. It's heavy, but it's great that we can do that on Silent Witness."ĭavid Caves has also revealed which episode stood out to him from this series. She is replaying incidents from her past which explains who she is today. Does she ignore it and shove it under the carpet, or face it even though it really hurts? I'm glad she goes towards the pain. Meanwhile, Genesis Lynea said: "Simone's back story comes back and bites her on the nose.
Silent witness professional#
Now that I'm also an executive producer, I really value it as part of my personal life as much as my professional life. "I never take for granted the privilege of being part of Silent Witness. The audience and I have been through a lot together. From day one, I've always said I'll stay as long as I enjoy it, and I still really enjoy it.
Silent witness plus#
Plus Genesis Lynea is back as Simone Tyler.Įmilia Fox has said she still adored being part of the show: "I love it as much as ever. There was Clarissa, yes, but it was always Clarissa and Jack, and I love Simone and Jack together too, but it was nice to be able to push Simone and Nikki together as well.Silent Witness is back! (Image credit: BBC) Who's in the cast?Īs well as Emilia Fox and Amanda Burton, David Caves returned as Jack Hodgson. ‘I also think Nikki doesn’t have many female friends.

‘Whenever I read that scene, and seeing the way they played it, it was all that stuff about sisters, you know? That’s what the show does brilliantly, they show the Lyell becoming a sort of surrogate family for each other, and I think that’s really clever writing between the two of them. What followed next was a scene Nick particularly loved:

Simone’s grandma revealed Alayah had been in contact with her shortly after she disappeared but also said she wouldn’t be returning home ever again.Ī devastated and lonely Simone made her way back to the Lyell Centre, ready to drown her sorrows. In emotional scenes, Simone discovered the case closed three weeks after Alayah went missing, leading her to wonder why on earth her family allowed her to believe the police simply gave up. Simone believed her sister died after going missing (Picture: BBC) I decided there must be a reason why a really good looking, well paid, intelligent guy hasn’t been in a long-term, sustainable relationship, and I think the answer is because Nikki is there.’ ‘Men who get older, who are quite isolated, I’m immediately fascinated by! If they haven’t quite committed in relationships, haven’t quite grown up, I immediately want to know why, and that feeds into the Nikki relationship in series 24. I want to try and reconnect with who is Jack, where has he been? Who is he now that he’s a bit older than when we first met him? I mean, when Jack was introduced, and no offence to David, but Jack was this young, bolshy character, sleeping with all these people and even took part in cage fighting! Because of that story, I think that was why last series and in this one, there was quite a strong focus on Jack and his family.

‘There’s a story in series 17 called Fraternity, where we get to know Jack a bit more – it’s always been one of my favourites. Jack meets Margaret tomorrow, someone who knows a lot about the Hodgsons past (Picture: BBC)
